When used with the "This is a redirect" (Redr) template:

Template {{This is a redirect}} may be used to add from one to seven rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.

When used by itself:

• ई एक ठो अनुप्रेषण बाटे a shortcut in any namespace से a page in any namespace except template namespace. For more information follow the bold category link पर।
  • If target page is a template, then use {{R from template shortcut}} instead. Shortcuts are wikilinked on community pages, talk pages and edit summaries, but not in mainspace articles.
  • Note: Template talk pages are in a talk namespace; they are not in the template namespace. All shortcuts to talk pages should be tagged with {{R from shortcut}}.

Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates श्रेणी:Redirects from shortcuts and, when the shortcut is in main-article namespace (mainspace), then श्रेणी:Unprintworthy redirects is also populated by default. At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Aliases/shortcuts in mainspace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
• Add this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:

Template {{Redr}} is an alias for the This is a redirect template, which may be used to add up to seven appropriate rcats, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page and its comparison page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.

• Use this rcat to tag any redirect from a Wikipedia (WP:, MOS:, etc.) shortcut. Shortcuts are historically reserved for Wikipedia project pages, their discussion and help pages, and categories, and they are now used in all namespaces. If the redirect is a shortcut to the template namespace and the redirect itself is in any namespace, then use {{R from template shortcut}} instead of {{R from shortcut}}. It is the target page that determines this, so if a redirect is in the template namespace and targets a page in any other namespace, then it is not a template shortcut and should be tagged with {{R from shortcut}}.
