ई दुनों उपत्यका के उदाहरण हईं
घाटी धरती के सतह पर खाल लमछर हिस्सा होला[1] जेकरे दुनों किनारे पर पहाड़ी चाहे पहाड़ होखे लें आ बीचा में आमतौर पर नदी के धारा बहे ले। किनारे के ढाल के द्वारा बने वाली आकृति के आधार पर घाटी सभ के यू-आकार आ वी-आकार के घाटी में बाँटल जा सके ला।[2][3] टेक्टानिक हलचल से बनल लमहर निचाई वाला इलाका सभ रिफ्ट घाटी होलें। दू गो किनारा सभ के बीचा में एकदम से गहिरा खड़ा ढाल वाली घाटी गॉर्ज होले आ अइसन खड़ा ढाल वाली घाटी के बिस्तार लंबाई में दूर ले होखे तब पूरा संरचना के कैनियन कहल जालीं।[1] गॉर्ज सभ के आकृति के चलते इनहन के आई-आकार के घाटी भी कहल जाला।[4]
एगो दुसरे अर्थ में घाटी भा उपत्यका[5][6], जइसे कि काठमांडू उपत्यका, पहाड़न से घेराइल निचाई वाला इलाक भा तलहटी के, चाहे पहाड़ के लगे के तराई होला; जबकि ऊँचाई वाला हिस्सा सभ के अधित्यका कहल जाला।[7][8]
